An FTM of color explains the alternative methods to T that he used to transition. I love this part:
It means that I might be able to pass as male if I want to, or open my mouth and expose myself as female. It gives me an option to choose my gender for the day. And it also allows my partner to retain her queer identity when we choose to. It allows me the flexibility to be who I want when I want.
Too often, we treat people transitioning as if they must reinforce the binary and cast off any mannerisms/feelings/identities/etc. of their assigned gender. It’s great to see someone who feels free to embrace whatever parts of his identity he feels comfortable with without succumbing to the pressure to conform.
